MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – A total of Br84 million has been allocated for the children’s summer recreation campaign in 2026, Deputy Director of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation Aleksandr said in a recent episode of
BelTA’s project The Nation Speaks.
“A total of Br84 million has been allocated for the preparation and execution of the children’s summer recreation campaign this year – Br11 million more than last year’s Br73 million. Demand is constantly growing: parents see how children’s facilities are developing, what kinds of events are being held, and how meals are organized. This year, we plan to surpass the figure of 400,000 children involved in health improvement program, compared to 395,000 last year,” Aleksandr Tsai said.
To ensure the availability of summer recreation, educational and sports health camps will be established across all regions of the country. In total, around 5,500 camps will be running this season: including 1,000 residential camps, including 148 traditional suburban facilities, and roughly 4,500 day-care camps.
“The highest demand among parents is for suburban camps,” he noted. “Therefore, owners and local budgets pay significant attention to preserving and strengthening the infrastructure. This year, over Br31.5 million has been allocated for the preparation of such camps: for routine repairs, equipment acquisition, and major overhauls. This is a substantial amount, considering the seasonal operation of these facilities,” the official said.
Over the past five years, the number of children attending summer camps has been climbing by 7,000 to 8,000 annually, and by at least 5,000 in any given year. “The numbers are definitely on the rise. Current funding is more than enough to cover all children in need, handle extra applications, and make camp stays much cheaper for families,” he pointed out.
